Check out the long range spot in the foreground on the Leek Springs Camera

So the incident has a local Type 3 team on it now with Cal Fire Team 6 on order, with the Feds being so thin will the state run this completely for the Feds or will a Fed team be activated as well, any one hear anything on this?
spot fire way ahead of the main fire showing on the LeekSprings cam.
@norcalscan posted some air ops freqs on the continuing fire thread for this incident, if that helps .
I would guess a fed team will get activated when the CalFire team gets near 14 days. Feds will probably reserve a TeamâŚhold a "place in the rotation ", due to their drawdown. They couldnât field a team immediately, looking at the big picture.
14:41, 1 hour timelapse, leak springs cam. that was an amazing view of the column rotating horizontally right above that spot. you can see how it threw embers down onto the ground. Smoke started showing about 14:00
That video is crazy.
Strike 1 team here.
3 days into the incident, right about the time they try to jump from local resources to NIFC Commands. If they arenât on ENF Forest, Admin or Service Net, start checking the NIFC C1-12, and search the 167-174Mhz area for the temp assignments.
Huh? There is an LG type 3 Team there. A CalFire Team will be taking the fire very soon. But this is a fed fire. There is no fed team assigned, best I know.

CalFire does not (or hasnât been) rotating out at 14. They finally did a transition of command on the Dixie, but it was long past 14. I would expect that because of the significant draw-down that as long as things go âokay,â (as could be expected with the fire behavior we are seeing this year) I wouldnât expect Cal Fire to be replaced. There are teams all over the west and the Fed sponsored teams do 'normally" rotate out at 14, so IMTs are in very short supply. Thatâs why Sac Regional T 3 AHIMT was deployed until the CalFire Team could take it. The Sac Regional team is a known strong commodity. Expect more of the stronger T-3 AHIMTs to be brought in as this drags on.
Well said! Type 3 does not insinuate incapable.
Lot of resources being emergency demobâd from Dixie and assigned Caldor
Nobody said it did. But this is a major, complicated incident that requires a Type 1 team. Type 3 LG teams (and there are others in California) managed a number of fires the last couple of years. They are getting very experienced.
The gest of my point earlier was whose fire this is.
My source on the ground says 41,000 acres and heading for Pollock Pines.
Sac Regional has multiple Cal Fire Type 1 team personnel on it. Know of at least (2) who are on team 6 that is coming in. Pretty capable IMT3
Oh⌠what we are hearing is not correct then.
Sounds like more to the ENE direction, but theyâre worried about the fire backing down and then making a run in the westend
Anyone know - how do the local winds fare in the afternoons and overnight? This one expecting to poss turn N by NW towards Camino and Placerville?
