Watching the wind shift on the 1 hr loop on the Leek Springs is impressive and scary

THIS IS A PREDICTIVE MODLE… NOT A GUARANTEE

Until the N to NE wind arrive, the sat view looks like a heck of a 9 mile wide fire front.

#CaldorFire will rival or exceed 1961 #HarlowFire fire spread, Madera Co, CA. https://firewisemaderacounty.org/the-1961-harlow-fire-mariposa-county/…. Terribly dangerous fire both to FFs & civilians. Glad to see many evacuating.

The ENF hasn’t had a fire to this magnitude in a long time, if ever. The fuel moistures are at all time lows, temps up, humidities down and wind playing a major role. Think back to the Tamarack fire and that growth. It wasn’t far. AEU and ENF are bone dry. This was the fire that was always feared and nobody never knew the day it would happen…

The King Fire was all that long ago and this has the possibility of burning into the King Fire and the Cleveland scar.

The King fire in 2014 at 97,000 acres was a pretty devastating fire for the region but agree the impacts of this will be far more devastating. As this fire possibly crosses Hwy 50, that section may eventually hit that burn scar and burn to the East of that scar. Would be a big threat to more structures between that distance if it continues marching this path. The American River canyon and predicted winds Don’t look favorable.

Photographed just now on final approach into SMF. Top of column was about our altitude (30k ish feet) before descending. Looks nasty down there, LCES y’all.

Cleveland has ALOT of dead and down and if the current spread continues with weather backing it, it would move right on through it. Not really a scar anymore.

Very thick plantations are the biggest concern on Cleveland. If it gets in there, big header

It’s definitely a combination for no bueno. In yet another deep river drainage (Dixie fire)

And it has a very high probability of getting larger. They expect it to crest the ridge along the 50 corridor to the East of Ice House. Once it crosses 50, it’s going to be a very long endeavour.

There’s a typo in that evac notice. It should be Snows Rd…not Shows Rd…

If this does get across the South Fork of the American River it will be the Cleveland times 10. Plenty of room for growth past Big Hill and Union Valley Reservoir.
Maybe run along the flank of the King fire. Lets hope they can hold 50 (but not holding my breath)
