Red Flag Warning has now been issued.
IC is requesting a hard closure of Hwy 29 over Mt St Helena along with mandatory evacuations in that area. The plan is to work a retardant line on the West side of Hwy 29 from Mt St Helena to Calistoga when smoke conditions allow.
What team is assigned to this Incident? Thanks & be safe.
CAL FIRE IMT 3 (SEE)
Anyone see a damage assessment map yet?
From the cam angle it looks like it is headed for the Hennessy scar.

Looks like the offshore is coming in pretty good wind shift in the last 15

That’s a significant wind shift
The EAS system in Napa County was just activated with a generic, alarming, and non-specific message about evacuating due to wildfires if one felt unsafe. The cell phone version of the message did not mention the Glass fire, but the TV version did.
Is there a change in fire behavior on the Glass right now? (I’m just wondering what prompted someone to just now push the EAS button for a fire that has been burning for a couple days. I am nowhere near the fire. I assume the messages were county-wide.)
There is active fire behavior in Div H which is on the Northern side of the the fire near Hwy 29 that may have prompted the alert. It may also be a warning ahead of this afternoon’s winds.
Branch 4 has requested a hard closure of Hwy 29 over Mt St Helena due to the fire bumping the line along Old Lawley Toll Rd.
They just issued a clarification IPAWS message to help the understanding of the initial alert. Believe it was intended to convey that the threat from the Glass Fire is still very much real and that people should continue to evacuate when notified to do so. There are still a lot of people in the Mandatory Evacuation zones.
New orders and warnings just issued. Order is from Whitehall Lane south to Bella Oaks.
New orders just issued for north county:
New North Napa County Evacuation Orders for the following locations:
- All areas of Napa County north of the Calistoga City limits between Highway 128, the Sonoma County line, and Highway 29.
- All addresses on both sides of Highway 29 between the Calistoga City limits and the Lake County line
- All addresses on Old Lawley Toll Road

Fire is crossing lines in multiple areas
Both Sonoma and Marin Counties got the alert by accident too. Im sure it created panic
As did Yolo County, followed by a flurry of messages identifying the mix-up.
Solano County got the message as well.
From the latest heat signatures it appears the northeast flank hit the LNU complex scar above Aetna Springs, has anyone heard this?
Confirmed. It is into the Hennessey in the Aetna Springs area.
Winds are light but have shifted to come out of the Northwest. Below is the current winds in the Angwin area which is an area of concern. The second shot is 2am and we see the wind shift to and even steeper Northwest wind. Red Flag Warning has been extended to Saturday morning.
Is fire already past white cottage/ink grade? If not, seems like the most reasonable thing for protecting Angwin would be to bring fire along White Cottage from Deer Park rd to Ink Grade and down into Pope Valley.
