Does anybody know if the fire has crossed Skagg Springs Road? How far away if not?

It’s south of there and headed south it might get to sweetwater springs tonight

NWS Sacramento: UNTIL 9 AM PDT THURSDAY FOR LOW
HUMIDITY AND GUSTY WIND

  • WIND…West to Northwest wind 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 30 mph,
locally higher in the afternoon and evening.

  • HUMIDITY…Minimum daytime humidity 5 to 12 percent with poor
overnight recoveries of 20 to 35 percent.

Red flag

VIIRs from 2am, 8/19/2020.
Waking up to all this red on the maps is deja vu to the fall fires in Sonoma in 2017.

Speaking of 2017, the fires northwest of Santa Rosa are well-established, doesn’t bode well with today’s forecasted NW winds.

Ops Map for “West Zone” today:

qMarkley fire in LNU Lightening Complex: concentrating on evacs and safety of civilian and structure protection and fire personnel. Trying to get burn victims out (civilian)
Fire headed towards Vacaville.
As with all the fires; they are trying to play catch up with limited resources.

Mods: please post in Lnu lightening complex Q&A : sorry…do not know how to move it.

For many years we’ve seen these valuable mountain top Comm sites impacted by wildfires. In MVU back in the 70’s we used to have the local handcrews maintain some defensible space annually. I’ve even taken CDF engine crews up to help maintain the areas.

Local agencies that control these sites need to make it a #1 priority. More $$$ is exposed to great risk/loss there, especially with all the new cam systems.

Takeaways from the LNU Lightning Complex Fire press conference.

  1. Fire resources are depleted statewide due to all the fires. They’ve asked 375 engines and many hand crews to come from out of state.

  2. The area of the Wallbridge/Walbridge Fire (oy - should be Walbridge after Walbridge Ridge) has a red flag warning.

  3. CAL FIRE is concerned about communities “south” of the fires. They expect more evacuations, this goes for all LNU Complex fires.

  4. To no surprise for us fire nerds, they think the Gamble, Spanish, Green and Morgan fires north of Lake Berryessa have merged.

Nothing too new, but just my takeaways!

Yes, the correct spelling for the Walbridge is with one l, however, all of the current CF documents are showing it spelled as ll, hence the reason the thread is labelled that way. Should the CF documents change, which they might, we will also change the spelling in the naming convention
