After the Tubbs Fire, Sonoma County REDCOM developed a “all hands on deck” tone out. All pagers for departments using REEDCOM as primary went off, followed by where to report to. Maybe Napa has similar?
Today was an active day on the #PickettFire. As with the previous several days, the fire was somewhat subdued in the morning hours under heavy smoke, but woke up and made major runs in the late afternoon and evening. We have 10:30pm maps and analysis on The Lookout. Active Evening on the Pickett Fire - 8/23/2025 - The Lookout
False. REDCOM made no request for an “all call” in the county. Sonoma County has three type 3 strike teams with various overhead personnel for this fire. “All call” is designed for in county major incident.
Hard not to notice a much more subdued looking heat signature & activity on goes & the cameras this a.m. Fingers crossed this trend continues into the heat of the day and beyond!!
Is it possible we’re looking at one of those rare instances where a Team gets ordered & Fire goes out and/or lays down significantly?! Seems like the hard work from air & ground plus the Wx has really pulled the air-brakes at least for now? #fingersstillcrossed!
Spot fire was picked up in an hour or so at about 15 acres.
This and the two fires in Lake County a few days ago are pretty telling of the potential this Fire Weather Watch will bring to the area.
Bear in mind all three of these happened under normal weather conditions without anything special to influence them and all of them burned very quick and very hot.
