CA-MVU-Border 8???

Cal Fire B-3 has assumed Border IC. Since the fire is likely to impact the Border soon we can use this Q and D. 3 of the Cams are showing the fire. http://www.alertwildfire.org/sdge/index.html

AA-330 is Border AA, Requesting Tankers from Ramona. The fire is easily 500-1,000 acres.

B3 has assumed Border IC. AA 330 states the fire is only 1/8 of a mile south of the border and will impact it shortly. IC has requested an additional 3 T3 engines to Marron Valley. Fire is being run on XSD CMD 3

MVU is sending engines and hand crews to Potrero, staging for when or if this fire crosses the border.

Here’s another webcam shot from Lyons.

That was just a WAG from the engine sitting up on the mountain. AA had not flown the fire yet.

Los Pinos Lookout was the RP and originally put it north of the border. So it was probably closer than WAG of 2 miles

Can anyone provide some reference as to where the S2’s are dropping vs. where the Border is?

The last drop from Tanker 134 was right along the Border Fence.

Copy that. Thank you

Right on the Border Fence.

The C-130 dropped on the east side of Tecate Peak and tied into the border fence West of Pilgrims Grove. Not a good Truck Trail to place engines. very few turnarounds.

Looks like they had a wind shift, looks to be pushing back into Mexico.

I would suspect that fire is going to cross the border tomorrow and the MVU boys will get busy. All open line, continuous fuel loading, and another hot day. Be safe all.

With nightfall, there is visible fire on the Otay Cam. Like you said, tons of open line in rough country.

Last time that area burned was 13 years ago… Border 50 fire. Fire started on the west end of Tecate crossed the border and went over the top of Tecate Peak and pushed into Marron Valley, We held Marron Valley road till just before sun rise and it crossed and ran up to Mine Ridge road and held. Gotta love chasing fire in that area with east winds. Got Tank 3-6 and 3-7 for a limited water supply along the Barret Truck Trail.
