Mixed Type 1 strike team en route from the LA area this morning. 2 LAC engines, 2 BRK engines and a GLN engine with LAC STEN leader. Rainbow/mixed team implies resources getting stretched a bit.
Just taking another checkin after listening and reviewing data.
Fire appears to be holding and keeping in check. Rotors and ground crews still working. Another windshift occured and now showing calm winds from the SW (upslope) and should expect another shift after nightfall which is projected to be calm from the E (typical nighttime downslope).
Camera’s show little smoke and rotors working them as they flare up.
CalFire is reporting as of 4:11 p.m. fire remains at 2400 acres and 0% contained. 50 structures destroyed and 30 damaged. Road closures remain for active fire work.
Helco told Division 1 to “pound it out” and it should be done. The Firehawk and B06 out of Auburn did lots of work dipping out of the Bear, and getting most of the smokes
Courtney Aviation long-wave IR imagery from 3:35pm doesn’t show much heat, but does provide a good view of the burn scar (vegetation is darker, you can adjust the opacity slider to compare against sat imagery): CalTopo - Backcountry Mapping Evolved

Seems to have died back considerably, with no spread, at least from my view on the smoky camera in the dark.
8/6 and 8/7 Ops Maps. The 8/6 map was cropped down from the full map which covered a much larger area as it looked like they were “going big” on planning for this fire. Today’s looks like higher confidence in getting containment on this fire sooner than later.
