These are just speculations-- I do not recommend going off this hunch because this is still a very active fire. I’m just sharing my optimistic thoughts on the situation.
Okay so here’s my speculative prediction going into tomorrow. Relative humidity and moisture recoveries being relatively low alongside the heatwave indicate fire activity --could-- become aggressive again tomorrow in the early afternoon. That being said, I’m optimistic this fire can be contained in short order tonight if they maintain good defence at Highway 79, reinforce hand and dozer and air attack lines along the north (if there are dozer lines.)
This fire could end up being put down before tomorrow morning. Fires out here have had a history of being explosive in their first day before being put to bed overnight with virtually no dramatic fire activity the next day purely because despite the topography of these fires-- it’s burning mostly in spotty chaparral and flashy fuels. The Manzanita Fire of June 2017 (east of Highway 79) the Gilman Fire of August 2011 and the Woodhouse Fire of October 2005 were all major incidents within their first day that all burned in this particular area before they were knocked down the next day. So I suspect the same can be applied here. So those are my thoughts.

I was kinda thinking the same but for awhile it was clearly burning actively under the inversion. As of midnight the fire did slow a little but still grew another estimated 1000+ acres with new evacuation orders issued

Seems like maybe a little extra carry in the area due to healthy fine fuel crop this year.
Does anyone have insight into how the landfill will affect planning on east side of fire? Can that cause erratic fire behavior due to gases coming off and safety issues?

2pm westerlies to 15 mph. East of the 79 they start to lose the wind shadow. Winds will maintain overnight, then by Sunday evening they could be looking at up to 20 mph at Mt. Edna. They really want the 79 to do some work, here.

Idyllwild is to far out . 79 is closed from California to San Jac.

Idyllwild is 18 plus miles from Highway 79, lots of land to cover before it’s a threat.

Mt David South cam about to get overrun, unless it’s zoomed in. Edit: Fire visible on north cam too, definitely about to get impacted.

It’s definitely near the Mt David Repeaters and North into the City of Beaumont has received Evac Orders. It’ll be a fun afternoon
