I’m with you for what it’s worth. Not to mention this platform is for getting in deep for fires and not just about the acres and the percentage contained.

It’s those damages like interrupted flow of commerce, homes saved (and there were many on this fire) plus others like smoke-related health impacts that bring political and budgetary support for the fire service.
The emerging estimates of the annual total cost (damages) of wildfire in the US is around $450 Billion (with a B).
$3.5 M of this fire was a pretty good deal when you consider what was saved.
Back in the day we used to chase these fires into the canal with 3 or 4 engines. B5414 would not use tankers to protect cow patties in the Altamont.
