Monument fire made a push yesterday evening and got across Hyampon Rd in the James Creek area. Today due to strong SW wind, single digit RH and Triple digit temps it continued to move to the south and east getting across Rusch Creek, Drink Water Gulch and is now pushing into Tule Creek. It got across a couple of the contingency lines due to a PIG of 100%. On the north side of this multiple spots got across the East Fork of the North Fork of the Trinity River and made a run up Backbone Ridge. Possibility it spotted over the top of the ridge and down into the North Fork of the Trinity River drainage. Will have to wait for daylight to evaluate more.

Looks to be a very dynamic day today (9-9-21) with very dangerous weather and fuel conditions. Three major areas of concern today is Hayfork/Hyampom area where the fire continues to challenge primary and contingency lines. The New River Drainage area north of Hwy. 299 where the fire has spotted to the west side of the New River. Crews did defensive firing last night in the area of Hoboken. Lastly the area of the East Fork of the North Fork of the Trinity River and and North Fork of the Trinity River. Crews are looking for options to tie things back in as well as do structure prep in the area. With todays weather it could prove to be a long difficult day for all. Keep Safe.

The fire on the Bell Flat /Five Waters side (North end) crested the ridge east of Hoboken and is roaring down to Bell Creek. Byoff Road was prepared as a containment line but there are no resources there to hold the line. Three residents (ages 76, 71 and 40) are defending two structures remaining on Bell Flat. The other structures and equipment were surrounded by black from last week’s firefight. They’ll do OK. We’ve had lots of fires and our 76 year old member if fire chief of Trinidad FD. The thing that concerns me is that Biofff Rd protects Trinity Village, Salyer, etc. although it may take 2 or 3 days to get there. Mellie

No. It’s “near” Daily Ranch.
Byoff Rd is off the Denny Rd just after the 10 mi marker from Hawkins Bar on HWY 299…

After a few good weather day’s things are looking much better in the Hayfork/Hyampom area. Not a lot of fire growth and good progress being made getting lines put and placed and some burning to connect the dots. Along the North Fork of the Trinity River they are making progress in tying the fire back into the East Fork Rd. The stopover int the New River/Denny Rd. area is a bit more troublesome. They had tied things back in but let today it made another run out of New River. It will have to be looked at more tomorrow and scratch out a plan. The Knob Fire which was being run by the IMT is now at 100% containment. California IIMT 5 turns this fire over to Northern Rockies Team 2 (Type 1) at 0700 9-13-21. Going forward once, all the communities are more secure, the task will be to deal with the north end of this fire where opportunities are few and the ground unforgiving.

Looks like the Haypress complex. Picking up a big heat signature as the wind rises.
