They completed firing but still have interior islands that are burning out off McKinley Grove road, itâs slow going.

From my experience maps are often quite behind from whatâs actually happening. I would say this fire is no different and might actually be worse with all the spotting that has been going on.

Earlier, day one operational period maybe, 100% debatable.
But once it got established in a 10yr old burn scar, in that terrain, with the values at risk as they are. There have been no real opportunities to shrink the box. The fact they were able to hold onto the fire as long as they did, keeping it out of The North Fork of the kings and on the ârightâ side of Dinky creek for as long as they did, did not happen by accident. The fact remains, this fire started inside the Rough Scar, then got into Timber that has a 80%+ bug kill component, that had multiple record rainfall years in 21/22, 22/23, 23/24. Agree with Hoss. As a local, some of the most unforgiving terrain, especially in the north fork / black rock area and long response times not to mention communications the suck especially in the canyon bottoms.

I wouldnât be surprise to see another team roll through with the amount of repair that needs to done. Plus they are still fighting fire.

After weeks of smoke, sirens, and sleepless nights, the skies have finally opened. A steady rain is falling across the burn, soaking hot spots and putting the Garnet Fire to bed. What crews have fought day after day, the weather is now finishing. The night the fire started there were 9 fire starts. 4 close to my cabin, you guys do amazing work at keeping the community safe as possible.
This chapter closes not with flames, but with water. Thank you to everyone who worked on these fires, it is much appreciated.

25:07-30:16
23nd brunch of lightning 24hr staffing 90% of resources committed to those fires.
24th sent an engine, patrol, and Air attack to confirm fire. 40 acres in rough scar. 11am golf strike team arrived, additional resources came from the Northside of the forest. More lightning, more starts, and 20-30 outflow winds fire established west side of Rodgers ridge.Arrowhead arrived 1800.
25th ordered a type 3 then a critical incident management team along with additional crews and equipment. Also more lightning, new starts, and 40-50 mph outflow winds.
