They are in the process of completing defensive firing around the Golden Trout Pack Station.
New Manda’s happening!
Hope this helps with getting some resources on this fire, last I saw was 600(ish) total on incident
I agree. it has been puffing all day but is on the move now as is …the whole complex. i also agree with phoenix559 that 630 seems a little light. But with the weather this weekend, additional personnel will be hard to get.

this is last nights IR
I think with the “new additional mandatory evacs” along with increased fire behavior as well as critical fire weather for the weekend just might get them some more help. This fire is about to become a much higher priority. The back country wilderness is one thing, but when life safety enters (increases) the equation things happen. Hope so.
Me to. Heritage is worth saving. Pray for the best. May i add life safety first, homes, and so on
Yeah, but that was last night. Now, look at the SDSU map and the heat signatures MODIS and I would say it has to be “right there” or just past? https://firemap.sdsc.edu/
Yep
And some of the best fly fishing waters in the country burning.
It’s is going to smash the kern river ecosystem for trout
yes. have been watching it. the monster is moving…but this is only Friday. we have at least 3 days of extreme weather…on this and all the other fires. need more aircraft, and troops on the ground. maybe more military and Canadians will help fill the gap.
On the plus side I guess is it will hit recent burn areas. Jacobsen , mountaineer, hidden, and Pier.
Oh, if it hits the Pier we are in deep trouble. That would take out Cedar Slope, Alpine, Sequoia Crest, Camp Nelson and the Giant Sequoias, including the recently donated Rousch property with the Stagg Tree in the Alder Creek Grove,https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alder_Creek_Grove
let’s hope it doesn’t. those trees have been around longer than fire history. but. let this not be the fire that harms them.
I also forgot about the alder fire from October 2018.

From my contact in Ponderosa 30 minutes ago… "“The update on the (SQF Complex) fire is very good news. The fire line to the south has receded back into the “black”. Firefighters seem very confident that they got it handled from heading West towards needles or Ponderosa. These areas were our biggest concerns.”
