Steep canyon, tough access on foot tonight.
In the bottom of South Fork Stanislaus canyon, between Keltz mine to the south and 3n11 to the north.
Advisory evacuations of Cedar Ridge.
AA wants AA-440, T-82, T-83, H-404 assigned early.
No recent fires in that area but this area is bordered by where the the Rim Fire started on one side and just below the Darby Fire on the other. Significant potential. Steep river drainages with population centers on either side of large stands of bug kill timber. If the fire runs up it hits Jupiter and up and laterally it threatens Twain Harte to the South and Arnold areas to the North but it has a long way to go before that. Unfortunately there are few to no control points out front other than logging stands.Hopefully the copters and crews can catch it before it grows much.
I agree a bit of overkill. This speaks a lot to their intent. With no other fire activity going, you put sufficient resources on it and smash it. There are no other teams committed as to my knowledge. A team if needed could be there Pronto. Use the money on tactical resources for now.
So I’m lost. According to this SOPS report, a T1 Fed team may be getting ordered. Or just the Fed T1 team is getting mobd to go to AZ. Thanks for the clarification in advance!
It also goes along with the concept that its a lot easier to get wheels turned around than it is to get them rolling. You can always cancel the order, but if this thing really goes crazy, they will be ready to hit the ground running.
Being on CIIMT5 we are told an order is pending. No orders have been placed yet that I know of. Gives us a heads up to pack and be on the road. Also gives us in ops time to research the area and fire history ect.
