to make things even worse they are dispatching a new fire on Old Gulch road out of San Andreas lets hope it does not to pan out. Multiple calls thinking it might be the smoke from Airola Inc.
Vallecito side, North side of the lake, just East of the bridge.
North side calaveras side.
Very steep when it drops off into the river canyon. Lots of copter work. Brushy on top and lava cap covered with grass and brush. Some good dozer county some not. Looking a lot better than it did. Still a long way to go.
The other issue later tonite is if hooks around on lake side to the east, and makes runs up slope.
Over the years we have had fires in this area. Val crews and Copter 404 do a lot of training on top. Bass fishing early in the year on the lake could hear 404 crew doing a lot of saw work one day for training up were the fire area is now.
AA says he’s double the retardant on right flank. Buy some time for the Dozers. Sounds like the dozers are walking over that way. Also left flank looking good holding in the retardant and crews are making good progress on that flank. I thought he said 540 acres but not sure.
I own property straight across the lake from the origin, done so for 20yrs plus. Remember a similar fire ( not as big) that started at the bridge and went all day an into evening and got stopped right at the origin of this. That fire never reall crested the hill. The guy I have watching my property reported it to me earlier. Just as it was 15 yrs ago Tuolumne side isn’t out of the woods until it’s controlled. In fact 15 yrs ago there was a hotspot that almost got started above my property, but the forces quickly jumped on it and extinguished it luckily. Praying for everyone to be spared.
Starting to get the down canyon switch.
They did a great job yesterday and last night. The cams show a much quieter fire and 10% containment. Awesome.
Keep it up. Be Safe.
