Sheriff Boudreaux has issued an EVACUATION ORDER for the communities of California Hot Springs and Pine Flat areas. The evacuation order includes M-504 at Tyler Creek, Southeast to Pine Flat, West to M-56 and Fire Control Road, North up Tyler Creek Road. This will continue to include structures, side roads, and attached roads.

Kern county just punched out a Charlie S/T. Media is saying new evacs for sugarloaf and Bull run areas just north of the Kern County line.

The interesting thing about this rapid movement is that it was not wind driven. It was a totally fuels and topography driven. There is a lot of standing dead as well as dead and down fuel loading as a result of the beetle kill from several years ago. Incredibly dry fuel bed, huge fuel load, and a lot of grass to carry the fire to the heavies.

FIRIS Intel 24 just flew it and mapped it at 70,454 acres. That is a 27,000 acre increase from this time yesterday.

Pretty quiet this morning in Pine Flat. Fire made it to the NW part of the community near Flying T and Rocking K yesterday, but there were no issues. Tons of resources remain in the community doing various prep work. Otherwise no fire has entered Pine Flat. Very smoky conditions still exist. Winds pretty much calm. Fire remains well north of M56 and King George Peak as well at this time. Pretty quiet right now.
