You could see it pop and start walking about 5 ago. Guess it got enough heat built.
Going to unified command with NEU and Sierra County SO.
Requesting 10 engines any type for structure group into Sierra Brooks.
Requesting 1 additional Charlie strike team.
FIRIS Intel 12 has mapped the fire at 196.6 acres
Mapped at 197 acres and counting.
Last fire to burn in the immediate footprint was the 1994 Cottonwood Fire, much of the timber has hardly recovered but that won’t matter with the decades of meadow flashy fuels and it being pushed largely by diurnal winds.
PERSONAL PREDICTION: Best case scenario, it will sideswipe Sierra Brook. It will most likely jump S860. From there it will likely burn upwards of 10,000 acres before the 2020 Loyalton Fire scar stalls it.
Looks like a spot at the bottom of the hill now
I believe that those spot fires presently crossing the flat are going to be in better alignment with the wind as they climb the next slope.
Can anyone confirm briefing will be at Sierra Brooks fire station at 06:00 tomorrow morning?
Hearing 800 acres
At 5:20 WatchDuty was reporting 200-250, now (40 minutes later) at 800 from TNF on Facebook
Jumped Smithneck Rd
Correct me if I’m wrong but it spotted about a mile, right?
Not to arm chair quarterback but I’m curious if those spots were defensive firing along Smithneck road.
