CA-TNF-Mosquito??

AA wanted approval to drop retardent but definitely said if I can’t get that get approval for water. That was before noon and I’m not sure if he was asking to alert MCC, convey the urgency of the request or actually thought he needed approval for either. My only guess was he was thinking there was some wilderness area, which I don’t believe there is. Seemed weird to hear, since he had T88 and T89 dropping last night within the TNF. Just reported what I heard

He saw the obvious potential. Would have thought they had that ironed out after it went Unified Command, early in the morning, if it was really an issue

I haven’t been there in about a year but the slide was still there. I don’t believe it was fixed, it was a large slide.

The smoke column on radar…closest radar site currently working is Virginia Peak in Nevada

I wonder if it’s because of the location of the FPUD water treatment plant and associated small reservoir right by the Blackhawk turn that he thought retardant may not be allowed?

Possibly, but FS has their own restrictions for dropping chemicals in the Forest. It may be different after IA
Found this but didn’t examine extensively

Thanks BlueZebra, I saw it and include it in my post. Wonder if it will help?

The Ralston Fire is 15 years old, not likely to buy much advantage, fuels-wise.
American is 9 years old, and there was some salvage logging on private ground which may buy advantages along the ridge on Deadwood Road where they held American. King Fire is 8 years old. Problem is this fire has a clear shot running with topo and prevailing upcanyon winds to run right up between American and King scars toward French Meadows.

@pyrogeography so is there any talk of the big box. There’s definitely a lot of potential and I’m sure this thing will have a bi head of steam when and if pushes through forest hill

Much of the untreated portion of the American burn scar is a mess of snags, downed timber, and robust manzanita growth unfortunately.

PCWA and partners have done some work around French Meadows but that won’t be in play for quite some time.

I’m not plugged into the Ops or listening to scanner traffic, just watching cams and making base data for maps for next couple weeks.

T-910 has left HLN and looks to be headed either to the southern OR fire or the Mosquito. Also, T-167 appears to headed to CA as well from Eastern WA.

Pyro, just FYI. Ralston Fire was 2006, not 07.
