Has an incident PIO been established?
AA mention that there was a drone op going to be done tonight and the recon may interfere with it. Any ideas what the drone op would be?
Recon flight is complete. Not sure what drone op they will have going.
I saw a bright light flying some unusual patterns on the Foresthill loop.
Just to mention a possibility, using drones for ignitions is happening fairly often nowadays.
Fire looks to be pushing up in the direction of the Foresthill camera, from down in the canyon. If you look at the 15 minute timelapse you can see vehicles repositioning. Any radio chatter about it? ALERT Wildfire
Increased activity on the Foresthill cam. Yes there’s been activity all day, but this looks a little bit closer.
Just finished a 60 minute livestream about the current major wildfires around California. We talked about the potential for the #MosquitoFire to spread toward Georgetown or Lake Tahoe, and what past fires in this area might tell us about what’s to come.
Radio traffic broken, but sounds like it’s still below Mosquito Ridge Rd. They’re talking about wanting to be ready at Baltimore Mine Rd. before the down canyon winds kick in. They all sound pretty calm right now. Impressive on the camera, but doesn’t sound like they’re overly concerned at this point.
That Bald Mtn 3hr loop is still pretty incredible!
INTEL12 just flew the fire, should have updates soon I hope.
25108 acres
It sounds like a large firing operation is being assembled.
NWS Sac Friday: This will be the last day of dangerous heat with near record and record heat for the interior. The mountains and foothills have
been trending cooler this morning but the valley is still
slightly warmer as of 3 am. Smoke from the mosquito wildfire has
spread into the southern Sacramento valley so this may end up
having an impact on today’s high temperature forecast. Radar and
Satellite heat imagery are indicating that the wildfire is still
very active this morning.
Smoke is projected to push to the east this evening as winds from
the Delta increase improving air quality over the Southern
Sacramento valley and lower foothills.
