Ok so it’s probably time to ask, where’s camp?
The lead pilot is awesome to listen to.
Thank You For The Update
He sounds like the same AA that ran the Creek Fire and truly kept the west flank out of meadow lakes. I found out, he does live in Meadow Lakes. Motivation is strong.
AA is frustrated with the efforts to hold those spots with the tankers and copters. He just can’t keep those big trees from burning. He said there so large. Try again tomorrow.
Usually Badger Pass Ski Area
Isn’t the road closed for construction?
The road to Glacier Point is closed long term for construction, but I don’t recall the pre-fire construction status of Wawona/41
That’s him, I recognized the Bros.
The team is working on going down to Awahnee Regional Park. We had camps there for the Railroad, Ferguson and Creek. Lots of room for expansion, but a lot longer travel time up to the park.
Long travel times for 12 hour shifts
Its 45 mins, not far at all. Ferguson fire was supported long term from there with longer times. Resource wont leave line till relieved either way.
Your absolutely right. If Badger Pass Ski Area is not available there’s not much available for a large ICP in the south end of the park.
On the Ferguson ICP was at Awahnee but there was a large camp at Badger.
On the Railroad it was also at Awanahee County Park, it’s a pretty short drive to the south entrance to the park from there, probably shorter than driving all the way up to Badger. Just have to deal with the ticks and snakes.
I was on the Harlow fire. It was the fastest fire I have seen. I worked with Jack Wilcher and aa Fresno Unit bunch.
This Washburn Fire may well take out a large portion of the YNP, with the coming hot weather, dead fuels and slope winds.
Yeah I was talking about the GP road
At the Ferguson the CCC crews setup a spike camp for crews for shorter rotations once it got further north into the park (RE drive times and ICP locations). Hot meals in cases delivered from main ICP, ski lodge/concession turned into bunks for overhead/crews parked in the lot. There was a bear roaming around in the meadow by the ski lifts the first evening they used it as a spike. Wawona is definitely closer by 20-30 minutes to Oakhurst, but the drive still adds up even for this fire.
In other news, fire looks to be pretty active this evening, as seen from Telegraph Hill.
Good Morning NorCalScan…
Any changes or updates to the frequencies assigned from yesterday?
I know AA wanted an AG command.
Thanks very much.
UPDATE EDIT: Listening to AA and traffic, Air Ops frequencies remain the same, just added 167.0625 as the AirGround Command now. Rotor Victor 122.925 I believe.
Campers leaving Yosemite Valley proper this morning reporting smoky conditions throughout busy areas of the park. Yosemite Conservancy webcam at Half Dome checks out.
