11 total FFA for 2020
5 Ione
6 Clark
The first 2 COA start in March on the same day
The second 2 COA start at the end of April

Ione will be rather “crowded” March-June 2020

Just FYI. I am one of the old guys who hasn’t been to school in 15 years and still pass the test every time. So for those who think it’s only for the kids. I assure it’s not. All the questions on the last test ( which I passed ) and this test ( which I passed) were all common sense questions for the position in which I was taking a test for. I only take the test just to take it. I have a job and don’t want it. I just always keep irons in the fire. You never know what may happen.

The best suggestion that I can give those of you going through the doubled up COAs at Ione (they aren’t trying to do an FFA at the same too are they?) is to get a schedule for apparatus drive time as soon as you can. We had the first doubled up COA and that was the biggest hurdle that we had. My COA class graduated everyone except one that left for a legit family emergency, I think the other class lost one academically. I can’t imagine that there will be enough room for an FFA class in addition to the two COAs, but if there is, they’ll find a way🤷‍♂️

FAE job posting is up, good luck to all

They have room… the hotel is open now and they have 6 double/triple wide sardine cans on the lower 40. They have room for three academies (FFA/COA), POST, and ECC to run at the same time, the Chow line gets long. I am so glad I got all my academies out of the way before they started doubling academies.

Per the posting! Coming quickly.

It is anticipated that job offers for Fire Apparatus Engineer positions may be made beginning the week of January 6, 2020.

Candidates are encouraged to have a valid driver’s license of the appropriate class and CPAT prior to job offers.

Hire dates will be as early as January 20, 2020. Job offers may be revoked if you do not possess the appropriate driver’s license, have a valid CPAT, or complete the medical clearance process by January 13, 2020.

New FAE job location form requires you to mark only locations you want to work, additionally I found language referencing interviews at least 2 times in the New job posting…possibly units conducting interviews for people who ranked their unit?

Did anybody else notice the item list yesterday had 13 required items the last one being the paramedic license but today there are 15 items being the DL and CPAT card?
I guess sucks for the early birds that applied as soon as it opened. Trying to get a hold of Santa Rosa to figure it out

That’s odd. But to my understanding most of those aren’t mandatory correct? CPAT AND Commercial DL has to be in hand first day of FFA or when they call you for a job.

Santa Rosa did call me back. There was a mistake made the first day of the posting, which was corrected later in the day. Anyone that didn’t upload the DL and CPAT online can send it in via regular mail with a cover letter stating that their application was submitted the first day and the docs will be added manually.

They haven’t changed the requirements to having the CDL AND CPAT prior to the first day correct?

You have to have the required CDL and CPAT by the time of job offer. However the lady on the phone indicated that it’s preferred if you can at least upload a permit alongside your current DL

Ok same as before! Thanks!

Can you just have class c with firefighter endorsement still?

Good question, doesn’t specify in the application.

It is my understanding that the Dept still requires a full Class B to attend the COA Academy

I personally know someone who just graduated COA and has class c w/ ff endorsement.

I have always only had C-endorsement. Current FAE.

Just cover your bases and get the full commercial B.
