IHC’s getting demobed

This whole topic is pointless and doesn’t help anything. The only ones who know the whole story are those who were there and to speak about it otherwise is pure speculation and gossip.Let the powers that be handle it.

We should we delete this thread and go back to what boots someone should purchase for next season…its just a discussion

This topic from hotshotwakeup has been going on since the park fire.

The fire name was never discussed, just guesses, including on the podcast. This is more of a philosophical discussion as of now, and never a bad time to include some humility in the fire service.

It clearly says CA Line fire which means it was CF IMT3 which is filling a gap in Fed IMT’s in CA.

I see the title, there is a period to break the sentences up, I also listened to the Pod, never mentioned the fire.

The Line Fire discussion was just an update on conditions and the origin investigation on it.

Whether you agree or disagree with this topic, it is a serious topic that needs to be discussed. If your priority is boots, you might stick to existing topic on boots and disregard this discussion. Have a nice day. Boots are a good topic.

(joke) These boots were made for talkin’ (terminate joke)

we all rely on good boots, but safety of the crew is primary concern…I think there was a song about boots a while back.

You need to either go listen to the pod cast or at least read the transcript. I find it very hard to believe that the owner of the podcast and web site is going to lie to everyone about this incident when he relays on money received to support his endeavors.
And yes there have been refusals of assignments by hot shot crews. And overhead also. Happened while I was working crews at South Ops. The FS duty officer had already taken care of it and the crew was resigned to another fire and they already had the replacement crew picked out.

The timeline or timeframes of the Line Fire don’t align to what duration of the discussed situation was in the podcast nor does the timing of the podcast coincide with what the Line Fire was doing at the time. All he said on the podcast was the it was not a FS Team nor a BLM Team. IF it was a CF Team, it could have been any number of fires prior to this past week

The Line Fire and the assignment refusals were two different subjects on the podcast.

Mod note folks… These subjective discussions about objective situations need to be treated as though you are talking to someone face to face…not as a keyboard warrior that can run loose at the mouth( or keyboard as it were)! As happens often, ( and the writing is already on the wall in red spray paint)keep it civil or it will be shut down. Be freaking nice!

To quote myself in a mods thread regarding this topic,

Let the discussion continue to foster…

“A. Speak their peace
B. Learn the right ways
C. Learn where mistakes were made
D. Learn where things were done right .”

Carry on

The podcast also stated that this was a incident that took place at the end of a fire season right as crews were going unavailable for the season.

This is 100% correct.

Real question, how many people on this thread have actually done more than one Season with a hotshot crew??

I hope there is more to the story than just turning down an assignment. Many people in many positions top to bottom are inexperienced and sometimes those inexperienced personnel collide and neither has the slide shows to pull back and see it from a broader perspective, often I’ve seen emotions rule the day under the pretense of leadership. No matter how much we try, the human factor is still a factor…

Why? He lies about a lot of things. Including being a hot shot supe…

This is the same dude that supported the Oregon sheriff arresting the burn boss.

That claimed to be in medical school during the pandemic and whose talking points were akin to rush limbaugh

That regularly spews conspiracy theories about overhead and fire origins amongst other things.

And if you call him on any of it you get blocked so he can keep his echo chamber. I paid for his Substack for two years before he got a fire massively wrong and I commented he did so, instant block.

This is not a new issue. Why are these counter productive threads allowed to continue? Blah blah blah same old argument with no substantive facts to support either side with hearsay and subjective opinions. Next….
