Don’t know. Reno is working a fire west of McCarren South loop, south of I 80 but I haven’t heard the name. Could be Laura2?
Edit. I was wrong on the location. It’s South McCarren, south/southeast of the McCarren summit. Has crossed McCarren & is in the canyon with multiple structures on fire.
Evacs in progress:
Sierra Pines
Mountainshyre
Greensburough
MY info is NOT for the Laura2 fire. But not enough info to know where to move it/or start a thread on it.
@belle
1:38 p.m. UPDATE : Reno FIre Department said structures are threatened in a fire that started above Caughlin Ranch. The fire started around 1 p.m. and is called the Pinehaven Fire. this is not the Laura2 Fire
The fire in Reno is being handled by Truckee Meadows, Reno Fire, and HTF. Definitely not Doyle.
Multiple fires in and around Reno. The largest seems to be in the area of South McCarran Blvd and Skyline Blvd. Reports of multiple structures on fire. Large evacuation area being worked on by RPD and Washoe Co. SO.

Wind gusts of 70-80 mph in the area with RH around 20%. Galena RAWS is fairly representative about 7 miles south:

The National Weather Service is watching four fires in the region as high winds pummel the area and hamper firefighters’ battle against the blazes.
“The winds are going to continue into at least the early evening,” said Scott McGuire of the National Weather Service.
“There is a high wind warning until 7 p.m. tonight and there is the potential to increase more in the next couple of hours,” he said.
Per 1600 TV news. RFD reports 1500 ac, 500 homes in evacuation zone, at least one confirmed residence destroyed (possibly more). Winds in 25-40 range.

BDU sending 9351C and 9352C Code 3 to form up at incident…nice 7+ hour drive
They better hurry. Showers predicted to start about 1815 over the fire.
If they are going to Reno they will be driving by Walker/Coleville fire by Topaz. 7 plus hours …A lot of Ranger units could be there in three to four hours on both fires. That just a heck of a long way from BDU unless the were sitting in Owens Valley Camp.
Those 10 engines are going to the CA-OVD-Mountain View Fire.
Last report was 5,000 acres.
Type 2 long team pending in IROC
It is just starting to rain in Tahoe City which means rain is on the way but maybe two hours? When it gets there, the winds will subside and growth will slow. This region has had these late seasons before. It’s always a close call if we can get wetting rains before the early season ending wind events. This year it did not happen. The Tahoe Basin lucked out so far the rains are here and wind is slacking off. There will be plenty of support work when all the orders for help arrive.
Looking at TV coverage its not over yet.
Here is a very rough perimeter map from Reno PD’s Twitter page.
just to give us an idea of what is going on.Thanks for the PIC that’s is good to see all the homes below S. McCarran going up to Skyline are out side the main front. I would think it would be unlikely for winds to switch up canyon from the east to that area . I was there yesterday an was impressed at the Fall colors. What a shame. Brings back the Belli Ranch Fire in the 90’s. ( Yep I am that old).
