RRU-SDU-ORC - Spared?

SO - I debated posting this one or not given activity still going on - but being nighttime and activity and posting not as crazy - I did. If mods think inappropriate feel free to delete.

BUT - I must say - I am AMAZED that so far - RRU, SDU, and ORC have come out of this wind event relatively unscathed.

That said - there are still some decent winds in these areas and many single digit RH readings.

Not over yet I guess.

But if it holds - given the almost ALWAYS fire prone areas in these units - it will be an amazingly good thing.

Winds in san diego are supposed to pick up tonight. As the system moves south east. Let’s hope it stays quiet.

I think next time you are debating whether you should post, don’t.
Everyone living in SOPS who are impacted by this weather event and don’t have fire in their backyards or have been evacuated are very thankful. You are stating the obvious, but your timing is inappropriate because this is not done yet.

I don’t have an issue with the post. We are all thinking the same thing….someone just had the stones to say it. I’m usually the one doing it, so glad to see someone step up. SDU has not had a significant fire in quite a while….save some Border fires. Winds are expected to howl tonight in the valleys but I just don’t see any fires occurring. The dome of safety is firmly entrenched over San Diego county🤭

When people congratulated me that my house had not burned during the Dixie fire, weeks before I’d be allowed back to it, I would tell them that whatever has not burned is ready to. We are, in general, a short-sighted species, and we easily get ahead of ourselves.

Nobody gets a breather in So Cal until/unless significant precipitation arrives to suppress fire danger in the region.

Jinx. And did anybody have a chance to say “what’s the frequency (for) Kenneth?” yesterday.

If you ever walk into and ECC or Dispatch Center and make a comment similar to, “It’s really Q***t today, isn’t it?”. Your butt will be out the door so fast (and they won’t open it first!).

Well - as I spent decades in such places - I never found this to be the case.

Oh, it’s a thing. Worked 2 Cal Fire ECC’s in RRU and BDU. You just don’t say certain things! Because when you do, Karma hits! People get mad!

When I as in the ECC I made it clear that if ‘certain phrases’ were said you’d be sent to 12 hours of ‘detention’ in Expanded with lights, radios and phones turned off lol. Station life was the same. Would get you cooking duty forever lol. At So Ops it got you sent home! :joy:
