Needle cast is ready to go and heavier dead fuel’s are pretty receptive here at 4000 feet in meadow lakes, anyone doing pile burning with heavy needle cast close by should do walk around and make sure you don’t have any spots.

New interview up on The Lookout with legendary California wildfire guru Tim Chavez. We talked about challenges in calling the end of fire season in Southern California, new wildfire tech, and mushrooms, too.

Forecast models are in really good agreement. Sypnotically, a polar vortex will manifest over the midwest. A blizzard with strong winds looks likely around the first day of winter 12/21 from this setup. Models build in a very strong ridge for this time of year over Southern California, with offshore gradients. It looks very dry and very warm for the last half of the month. Fuels are not receptive for fire spread due to precipitation and I wanted to point out the oddity of maximum fall foilage with the nuclear green grass crop.
