Well the former guy is a supporter of the movement who promoted the Jewish space laser/wildfire theory. So I’ll take the upgrade and call it a success.

Sam Seaborn is a fictional character from TV lol. My point being the VP and POTUS have advisors that look into details of their public engagements and clearly missed the mark on this one or at least the opportunity to go talk to the folks that are being affected by rules they can control.

Side thought, how would an entry level person explain (to do what we do) that to themselves or parents. Good grief that would be a hard sell.
I had a guy ask me about a job and how much it paid at a drive thru of a major fast food joint in AZ. I told him the standard apply at USA jobs we make most of our money in OT, Sunsets and Travel. He asked again starting pay I told him 13.45 and he laughed and stated he started at the restaurant 14.35 with guaranteed raise after 90 days and incentive bonus. I didn’t tell him that it takes a few years to meet the IFPM qualification of FFT1 to get a GS5 level of 16.90 an hour. Pretty sad, its not just a CA problem anymore.
One of the biggest hurdles is convincing people this is just not a California issue.

Hey line officers and fire management officers, Where’s the action plan for the 10% retention bounus? The excitement from a few weeks ago is starting to collect dust.
I am hearing post October 1, 2021 timeframe. Wont even come close to fixing the problem.
What will fix the problem:
$21 starting/entry level wage, scale up through the ranks.
Wildland Firefighter job series.
Implement portal to portal nationally for Wildland fire emergencies and all hazard incidents.
Keep it simple. Stop all the politics, jockeying and don’t overthink it.
An unrelated “rage quit” but it’s unacceptable for fast food workers to work in the conditions outlined in the article but ok for unskilled laborers to work in those conditions…

Nice while all with exception of the SNF SOPS fed dozers sit. Helicopter scare is over. Just to make sure that I stay on topic. There are southern forests that just keep there folks on 24rs fine. There are other forests that want to hold and not. We will not hang around for long. Plenty of places to work. We have stayed true and this is our reward.
