Looks like it burned right through that retardant line. I can’t make out anything of it other than maybe the upper right from the building.

The fire is doing some good clean up, however it’s positioned in a really bad spot for access to get underneath it. Don’t want this thing grabbing a strong south wind and coming down slope towards Big Bear. Also, how far it goes laterally and to the Sotuh is huge concern as well. To the West a few miles is Bear Creek, not a good spot for the fire to get established. If it comes down the hill to the South the fear is it setting up in Santa Ana drainage. Movement to the East is a little more tolerable with some recent burn scars but not good access and fear of it coming over the hill. This fire has had a unique East wind on it since the start. At some point when the High weakens the typical South and West winds will kick in. That could be more favorable as long as they can hold the ridge line and keep it from backing too far down towards Converse. The fire is just in a bad spot overall. Thankfully it hasn’t made major runs, but if too much fire sits on a slope for too long it usally finds its legs.

Is command still on forest net?

Seems like the fire has now hit the retardant they’ve been painting the ridge with for a while? All the columns have calmed down except for the easternmost. 1h 15 mins ago versus now:

Can you say Lake fire in slow motion? Order a type 2 team, then two days later a type 1 team. With all the values at risk, not even being at the fire, it comes out at a type 1 complexity. But hey I am not the Agency Administrator that makes those decisions.

VLAT going in for a drop behind those trees. So far looks like they’ve kept it in the drainage.
