I would say its running up a drainage…not as bad as we have seen earlier in the fire by any stretch of the imagination.
They’ve had pepper ball gun back fire starters for a while from a helicopter, this is the next step in evolution

The unmanned romeos up there I believe are DJI M600’s. Forget about peeping toms with drone video, now they can shoot fire.
If you heard the evening radio simulcast briefing for night ops, there was no concerns in the area of the fire in the camera. Of course that was for the East Zone. But I would imagine they would have mentioned if there was a problem over there. The biggest concern right now for the EZ is a spot in the wilderness that they really cannot see so they are backing off…
Very cool. Maybe we aught not be speaking of just how to do this drone thing in a public forum.
Thanks, Jake!
So the sun goes down in what I call Martian Sun Syndrome that all too many of us get to see these days. Winds have calmed.
That seems … less than good.
A lot of the cameras show fire tonight. Quail ridge has some color to it

East Quincy I think shows it as well, tho the picture is pretty low quality

IAP and morning brief was to fire off from Mt Hough/ Crystal Lake road and go direct on the fire that slopped over the road. Judging by cameras out of Quincy today, smoke likely held down the fire again. I would assume what we are seeing in the cams over Quincy is firing ops.
I hope you are correct sir. Things did seem to sort of clear out just before dark and the smoke started to rise just at the left of the frame. Maybe they started the firing at dusk?
.
Can someone much more wise than I am please interpret what I see on the Cohasset camera over the last hour? To me, it is the most fire I have seen on it .
Thank you

Getting a very light rain/drizzle. Air actually smells like rain instead of smoke. Can’t see any fire but I notice the Smith Peak Lookout is lit up.
Also a light SE breeze. Drizzle stopped but hey it felt good. I can see a faint glow with the binoculars where there shouldn’t be any. City and house lights reflecting off the smoke are very bright. I could be seeing Taylorsville or something I don’t normally notice.
I ran the loop back till before dark. They refocused the camera to a close up. I thought that this might have been a part of todays firing ops. Darn cameras are tricky to read at night.
Quincy burn operation happening tonight. I think that’s what we’re all seeing tonight on cameras.
Thankyou sir !
You’re welcome, just letting you know I’m a lady not a sir ha ha
