CA-BTU-Dixie?

There’s two seperate ICPs in Susanville. One for CalFire, one for the Feds. Is that typical?

If it is at the coords FireBrother shared, it might be a slope reversal running up out of the south side of Lights Creek near the old Engel Mine. This area had the most heat in it on that flank, and it is hard to see the plantations in the upper part of the Moonlight generating enough heat to pop up such a header.
Light blue areas are private land, which tend to have a lot lighter fuel loads than Federal land which wasn’t salvaged logged or site prepped.

Cal Fire Team 3 is in charge of the west zone and just moved their command post from Chico to Susanville. The Fed team (CA Team 4) has the east zone and has been in Susanville for awhile now.

If anyone wants to see something actually ugly on camera right this moment, DyerMt1/2 and Butt Lake are … not good.

The fire is creeping up the south slope of Dyer.

Looks like dozers are cutting line on the back slope.

Seeing the glow all the way from flea mtn is insane.

Would that run up Rattlesnake be using Fred’s Creek?

Hey, there. You guys have saved Crescent Mills and Taylorsville so far. You got EVERYONE out of Greenville alive, even the ones who waved firearms at you instead of evacuating. Because of you, they have the chance to rebuild. You saved Quincy, Meadow Valley, and Bucks Lake. You saved Philbrook, Butte Meadows and Jonesville. You’re saving Chester and Westwood. You’ve saved every life that was in the path of this rampaging monster so far.

You’ve done one HELL of a fine job. Full stop.

If anything protects Susanville it will be the Sheep and Hog burn scars from last year.

Or the work being done in the East Zone, Diamond Branch, Div OO, Div PP, and a fuel break/contingency just above Janesville. There are hundreds of FFs working hard to keep the fire out of Janesville. Be careful with comments that may lead the general public to believe that the fire can’t be stopped unless it runs into and old burn scar.

While it is all very exciting about who kicks who in the world of IM, and showers are definitely important coming off the line, let’s keep it to the actual flame work and how to stop it.
