Excuse this basic/uneducated question, but… just how high can or will the F/MW VIIRS readings go “typically” in a wildfire? Is 201F/329MW remarkable or just business as usual?
Mid level instability should lead to plume development this afternoon and tomorrow
just under 10000 acres
east side now
Any idea what landmark this is close to?
Based on the camera angle and where the edge of the fire was, I would guess coming up the northern flank of Eisenheimer Peak
Isn’t this an unusually long one? It’s been going for over 10 mins. What would be happening on the ground in this area? Would the crews beat tracks to a safe zone?
Radio traffic talking about activity around the Taylor Dip area.
Scanner just now : confirmed landslide in seneca 3 miles away from 89 on way to drop point 130 per transport
did i hear this right? i thought it was pretty clear
A lot of cabins/homes on Chester Warner Valley Rd in Warner Valley all the way to Drakesbad Resort.
We’re sitting on pins and needles as we look at every data resource available, for my friends family cabin located in what’s named on topo maps as the Lee Camp area right on CWV Rd, near Drakesbad. The fire is getting so close, and perhaps has already hit. It’s good to know there were ff’s out there last night doing structure protection. Grateful for that knowledge. We called days ago asking if it were possible to get retardant drops on the structures out there if no other resources were available.
Grateful for the info made available here.
yeah while that was going on about 40min or more ago i also heard
“…lone rock area
…yeah [grant?] go ahead
…increased fire behavior had to abandon direct line pulling all resource back down all the tractors are going to back off and help complete the line east of us the contingency line”
I know it can be difficult to get info on the smaller communities with such a large fire affecting so many different locations. Structure protection is always a priority, after life safety, even if you don’t hear about it directly in the briefings. A friend’s engine has been on structure protection and prep in the Warner Valley area for at least a few shifts now. They haven’t forgotten that beautiful little community, there are just a lot of moving pieces to this fire!
There is air tanker activity around Lee Cmp/the Corral right now.
https://www.flightradar24.com/GUARD804/28c030c8
6 helicopters, 3 contractor and 3 guard ships work. That C130 that’s showing up is actually a helicopter.
I see two tankers, are they actually helicopters?
This one GUARD804 looks like it doing loops and not going to willow lake to refill.
Guard831 just arrived, so I’m not as suire what it is doing yet.
Is the contingency line they are speaking about the Wildcat Ridge contingency??
They are actually helicopters, 804 is doing bucket drops and could be pulling from juniper lake. 833 and 831 have a pretty transponder signal and are appearing in random spots around juniper lake.
LACO Area C Cities MRV, MTB, ARC, MPK and SFS sent a third relief crew up to the Dixie Fire to relieve the current crew assigned to Strike Team 1840A.
That’s the fire doing what it wants, forced all resources to back out and abandon going direct.
Getting some lightning in the northern area near Snag Lake now.
