2pm IR data has been posted - ftp.wildfire.gov
Not what we need right now. Good cell over Little Grass Valley Reservoir too, everything moving WNW. Buckle up! (red is TFR over the fire)
Winds gusting in susanville
A fair amount of rain with the lightning in the Quincy area. A welcome relief, at least temporarily.
Mandatory evac for Chester/Almanor West being lifted tomorrow morning. Hopefully that won’t change.
Sounds like outflow has pushed it across the A21 road. Crews pulling back until weather subsides.
Moving resources towards Westwood. Fire is about 4 miles from town, but making a hard push south
.
Images from media on Twitter near A21 area show a large column developing in the last hour. Alert wildfire cams showing mostly smoke. Local weather shows gusty outflow winds. Today’s IAP mentioned low RH and poor recovery in the area as well. Drove A21 last week and there’s not alot of places to slow the fire down there when it’s throwing so many spots out in the wind past the road.
heard there has been loss of internet and cell service on west side, others say along 36 too
server is back up
Weather stations reporting on caltopo showing gusts up to 30 mph in Chester out of WNW.
The fire burned the fiber connection feeding the area.
not that i’m complaining but I wonder why susanville isn’t effected? i heard susanville ECC is down but haven’t heard anything else down here
The fiber feeds Westwood, Chester, Susanville, Greenville down to Keddie. I believe all land lines are down, most cell and internet is down.
DigitalPath is running on backup MW. Calfire base in Susanville is online. We have been preparing for this for a while.
Has CalOEs brought in any of their Satellite communication resources (MIGU and others)?
Reports of three pyrocum clouds topping 30k ft. Also showing rotation within one of the columns.
