this is off of Sunset hill. looks like it is going to be a full evening with spot fires . Big winds expected tomorrow, gusting upwards of 35 mph . The southern parts of the fire heated up today . Clipper Mills , Forbestown and Strawberry Valley are still a concern
Here is a link to satellite images of the fire I created from data captured today, 9/16/2020 at about 1400hrs:
White line is about 60 hours of growth since IR flight on the 14th.
The Metroliner is flying the south zone and it looks like there is a helicopter working the area by Bucks lake with a spotter plane above. Winds are starting to pick up as forcasted
Mandatory evac. issued for Meadow Valley this AM. Precautionary due to the winds predicted…
Winds are at 12-15kts and gusting up to 21 in Chester from the SSW right now, so it’ll definitely be a problem.
Wind has died down and the skies are clear. Lots of Air Traffic hitting the area above Clipper Mills this morning
SW… or??
The little gray streaks tails fade toward the direction the wind is coming.
The darker end of the streaks toward where the wind is going.
PGE has a great wind chart. Down at the bottom of the page is the map. Just find where you want to look and zoom in . Eazy Peazy. The more you zoom the more you see.
IAP 19-20
Looks like new evacuation orders on the fire. Based on FB post, they came down around 3am this morning.

Watched the Sunset hills camera last night. Run a 12 hour loop on the camera and you can watch fire take off. They have a 400 acre spot fire above Forbestown, Wind is expected to change direction today and may present a challenge on that side of the fire. Looks like they have air support already over the area

They’re starting up again this morning with S-2s. EDIT: OK, P-3s now coming out of Chico, along with a BAe-146 (Tanker 01).
EDIT: And a 747.

USFS morning update
The Skies are fairly clear and the winds light. It looks like there are several fixed wing
aircraft working the area…
This isn’t “west zone”
Winds are coming up out of the SW at 14 mph but the skies are clear. Looks there there are several fixed wing aircraft working it again
Looks like its starting to get pretty active…
If you do a one hour loop and zoom in,
there appears to be a spot across the ridge from where the fire is currently. I believe that is an area they have been very concerned about jumping the canyon.
