Flea Mt Webcam shows it also. Hasn’t gone to bed yet. Hopefully wind does not get it up and running again. Just real nasty country to try and control a fire.
Wind changed direction to more easterly . This smoke trail runs over Paradise now and across the valley. Any Idea what is going on up there? All this plume and dark smoke doesn’t mean anything good
Not good. Winds are coming up again.
Flea Mountain.
kinds of works out to be west of Buck Lake, Sort of hard to gauge from the cameras
Butte Wx Spotter FB page, posted about 1830: “#North Complex Scanner chatter via [#PlumasNationalForest] indicates the fire is approximately 4 miles from hwy 70 nearest to Cresta…”
Spotted across the drainage to the west.

Across Grizzly Creek, not Feather River, unless I am missing something.
I think you are correct sir !
USFS evening update reported…
As of late this afternoon there is a spot fire in French Hotel Creek, approximately two miles south of Grizzly Forebay, that is well established and actively burning. Resources including dozers, engines and handcrews will look at utilizing existing dozer lines from previous fires and building new fire lines in an effort to contain this spot fire. Other crews will focus on containing any other spot fires throughout tonight’s shift as winds are expected to be sustained at 15-25 mph with gusts of 40+ mph.
So you called this earlier today. Stll of the same frame of mind you were this morning?
It has spread more southerly today than the Windy site was predicting last night. Today it spread closer to SSW, not pushing toward the west much at all. The Windy site is forecasting pretty much steady NE winds until Tuesday midday.
I’m not much of an IMET. It would be great if anyone who is really good at this stuff could chime in.
It was up and out of French Hotel Creek quicker than a bedbug this evening. I think it could be several miles southwest of there by now.
Sitting here in Paradise close to the hospital near the west branch drainage . We are seeing ash now and it really smells like burning wood not smoke. The NW winds are in line with us. Just received a evac notice for concow/pulga and yankee hill. Not a great feeling.
I have a lot of friends and family who have rebuilt or are in the process of rebuilding. I’m really thinking about you all tonight.
Thanks, this is getting sort of old. I have worked all summer on making as much defensible space as I can around me. But in these winds it may not matter. Be lovely to know where the fire is if it has already got up and out of french hotel creek
Judging from the glow behind the ridgeline on the Flea Mtn camera, I think it is in Wildcat Creek, and that the big run visible on Bald Mtn cam at dusk was up the major ridge to the west of Wildcat Creek.
Grizzly Dome Tunnel is right by the (70) highway marker.
Thank You Sir once again. Camreas hard hard for me to guess exactly what I am seeing . Where to you think it will drop down into the feather river canyon. WInds here are all over the place as far as direction here right now. mostly NW . Just heard they have issued a warning for Magalia and stirling city and lower paradise down by hwy 70.
Town of Paradise has issues evacuation warning for all of the town
CAL FIRE has moved resources from the Forbestown end of the fire to the Jarbo Gap station. Sounds like they are anticipating the fire bumping Hwy 70, east of the station tonight sometime. Sounds like the night air attack is committed to LNU. Winds are blowing 50 mph up at Jarbo right now
just got a code red issued for a evac warning for all of Paradise.
The Town of Paradise has issued an EVACUTION WARNING for the entire Town of Paradise. There is also an evacuation warning for Magalia and Concow. An evacuation warning means residents should prepare to evacuate. An evacuation order means residents should evacuate immediately.
Yeah. As you know, once it gets over 70 in Pulga, straight shot to Paradise with the wind. Still lots to burn through there.
Concow is under an evacuation order
"EVACUATION ORDER
