So headed towards Lyons creek it sounds like I remember that was burned out in early 80s.

Wright’s Fire?

Sounds right. I was there in 79 taking photos and was devastated when it burned up not long after.

I believe it burned in in the early 80’s. I worked at El Dorado CDF and thought we were going to the Wrights
fire but we went to the Buchanan Mine fire in Tuolumne City. Could see the Wright’s lake header from that fire.

I’m guessing a burn show going on in Sly park? Always Impressive at night. Hopefully tying in that west end in to the canyon.

Can anyone tell me how the El Dorado hotshots are performing their backburn on the south side of Sly Park road? I know they’re using the standard stuff like drip torches, but are they using very pistols and shooting them into the canyon? I’m just curious because I see a lot of flashes on all the cameras and wondering what could be causing them. It kind of makes sense that they would be burning into the canyon. But talk about risky.

@codagent your question reminds of a funny story about Kurt LaRue and using the word repertoire, “thats French for the sh!t we do…” carry on

Ff13: You are correct. Just read an article about mass panic….turns out “we” do not panic, we double down and become much more involved, helpful and cooperative. I am not a fire expert but over the last few days I have become more educated to allow for informed choices….many thanks to Zeke Lunder-The Lookout— (donated 200 to his site). Best source thus far for good, accurate, detailed information.

Fire at residence well west of fires edge at Crestline off Leisure JSO Pleasant MRB – apparently has ‘agricultural activities’

Appears to have been extinguished by residents, that could have been a mess.

El Dorado and Tahoe shots were using drip torches, throwables, and pistols brought fire down from the ridge to Camp Creek on the north end. Truckee shots and Cal Fire Placerville fire crews on the south ridge brought down to camp creek to box the fire in.
