Looking at the Sierra resort cams, it doesn’t appear that there is any firing going on there yet anyway. It does however appear that the NE corner is working it’s way into the Horsetail Falls area.
Was thinking that might be why they are bringing in the scoopers.

A scooper flew over my house in Fiddletown just before sunset on the way back to McClellan on Thursday or Friday (a couple of days ago.)
Has anyone seen or heard what consumption is like? Wife and I were talking this morning about long term what this is going to do to 50 if there is high consumption of fuels…. Mudslides, avalanches… a pretty major freeway could be rendered obsolete for a long time.

They have hand line heading up into desolation valley from twin bridges and dozer line on west side of the ski resort along Sayles canyon tying into 50.
I will go back further to the Pilikin fire in 1973(my first year as a ground pounder). 10 years later after the very wet 1982-83 years, the south side of 50, in the area of that scar, slid and shut the highway for months.

The worked the scoopers for two days last week (Wed-Thurs?) Flew them out of Salt Springs I believe, then up the east side of the fire and dropped on the section of line they were trying to hold from Cody Lake down towards 50, west of Strawberry.
