Looking straight up at Leeksprings.
Camera operator was following VLAT. Watch the 15 min time lapse. Watch the pole with the 2 streamers on it sway in the wind. Not good with RFW not starting until tomorrow!!
Raining Ash in the Carson Valley
Do they expect approval for retardant?
You can see an excavator taking down trees at 13h00 at the Leak Springs to protect the infrastructure there.

When the camera pans to the Echo Summit area or perhaps slightly north of there… that looks dire.
Is it safe to imagine the run this fire may take in the next 48 hours could put the King run to shame?
I think it already has… I think I firing operation along 88 may be a decent idea
I would think about that one. Depends where you are talking about? A lot of dead and down along parts of that road after many years of clearing. Might be hard to hold?
2021 seems to be the year of putting too much fire on the ground at the wrong time. I know our options are really limited, and there is a lot of pressure to do SOMETHING, ANYTHING, but if we don’t have enough people and resources to hold, the conditions are telling us over and over that they are going to spot and eat our lunch - maybe even days after we light it. Heading into two days of red flags - damned if you do, damned if you don’t.
Tremendous amount of blow down above the Bear River Cutoff.
NWS Sacramento: 2:15pm Sun. While locally breezy southwest winds are expected over the higher elevations today, stronger winds will develop Mon-Tue with critical fire weather conditions. Southwest to west wind gusts of 20 to 35 mph are possible, strongest during the afternoons and evenings. #cawx
What exactly are we seeing there, Higgins?
VLATs prempted for Leek Springs repeater protection. Visible on camera
