The 5-minute obs for SLT are fascinating. Winds switched from upslope to downslope at 9:20am, with temps rising 14 degrees and humidity falling 22% in 10 minutes.
Anyone have intel about what their plans are (if any) for isolated spots up in the wilderness? Any one going up to check them out? I noticed two, SO and JEO Aloha lake on the latest IR run. Admittedly not much fuel around. This whole northside of the fire gives me the willies after the King fire spread.
Also, anyone have a link to this mornings op briefing? Thanks
if you have Facebook
Great work putting those 3 together thanks
You can find it here on Youtube for those who donât have Facebook. All of them are available here in the Live Youtube folder. (You have to click on the link in the PDF file that opens up for the briefings. I watched todayâs briefing and do not recall any discussion of the wilderness specifically, though that certainly could have been covered in the breakout group briefing.
Just lost access to my ring cameras at my house which is off the west side of Pioneer trail near Southern Pines. Not sure if I lost internet, power, or both.
For those that donât know, there is a live feed of the flirs for the caldor fire at: Caldor Fire FLIR Live Feed - Heavenly (Left) - Danaher (Right) - YouTube
Air Attack update:
Fire is skirting trimmer peak.
Head appears to be in section 22,23,26,27, 34,35
It appears that the fire impacting Meyers and Christmas Valley skirted the south side of Echo Lake. Seems like if/when that north flank gets around the north side of the lake, there could be much greater impacts to SLT. Iâm not familiar with that area, but Iâm guessing fuels are pretty sparse up around the lake. Hopefully they can catch that before it drops into the valley, but thatâs no doubt a tough task given the current conditions.
New, temporary (I thinkâŚ) camera
This is looking down into the subdivision that took a major hit from the Angora fire
The mobile camera is looking a Christmas Valley. This area was not impacted by the Angora Fire.
Sounds like AA is leaving Div Delta and the spot/slop over, is âlooking goodâ. He left 2 medium rotor wings and is taking a heavy rotor wing to Silver Lake dip.Looks like T914, T912, T15 and two MAFFS doing work near the same area.
In the distance it is. The subdivision in the foreground is the area hit by Angora. My friendâs house on Elk Point Drive was one of the first to burn. They rebuilt on the up hill side/loop. Now itâs threatened.
Youâre hired!
So where are we now? That was a 0930 IR and nicely done. AA relayed something about Fire skirting Trimmer Pk which is a good distance east and 9K ft. KCRA Live Copter 3 and Hawkins Pk had a great photo of a massive blowup. Did the eastside spots off the airport head for the hills or did they stay down in the Pioneer area. Currently Hawkins show a calmer picture.
