CA-KNP-Coffee Pot???

Popped up on WD yesterday, shows it’s east of 3 rivers in the area of homers nose.

No acreage updates.

Tankers 76/78 working it.

Smoke showing on blue ridge cams yesterday and throughout the night last night.

I believe this was initially a lightning start back on 8/2. I was up there when it started and they were getting pretty good strikes in the area with a little bit of rain.
I believe this is in the Park boundary as they were working/monitoring with the Copter out of Ash Mountain at the time. Looks like it woke up yesterday and got outside the containment line.

Good to see them hit it hard with tankers out of porterville and the copter doing quick turnarounds by dipping from Evelyn Lake.

Recent Fire history to both the south and north with the Castle and SQF Complex. In my opinion, the only major threat would be if the fire got established in the Kaweah East Fork drainage and ran east towards the cabin community of Silver City. Pretty brushy and overgrown in that drainage.

If it does run, I really hope they go unified command with Cal Fire and Tulare County early on. Silver City will take time to prep and put a structure protection plan in place. The SQF Complex proved this to be a challenge (I’m using nice language)

The fire has a nice build to already at 1000hrs. Hope they keep the roll out to a minimum.

FKU is sending a strike team of crews out of county. No CAD to see where their off to.

Buck rock has a good view. Looks like fire is backing down the mountain

No doubt that is a steep drainage with great rollout potential. Unfortunately as you get lower in elevation it turns to a very receptive fuel bed.

Let’s hope there’s some good trenches being put in below!

Copter 520 and 530 moved up to WoodLake this morning. Sounded as though this was a helibase for the incident. Both confirming they are assigned to the incident. It has an airport.

I loved to cover Woodlake calfire… I ran some great veg and structure fires out of there.

It appears the fire is burning in BLM Land now but it is CF DPA. Hopefully there will be more urgency to put this fire out. The press releases from the park states there is no immediate threat to communities but that is not true. There are homes close by to the fire.

I must say, they’ve been hitting it pretty hard the last few days with air resources it seems like. More than what seems to usually be happening.

But with that being said, I hope they continue to hammer it.
