CA-LNU-Kincade??

Fire activity is definitely increasing on the cams, looks like it’s off to the races with the wind.

Anyone get the FSPRO Spread Probability Map to open on the FTP site ? It’s not opening for me .

The Nor Cal Major Incident feed that was covering this incident is down. The other Sonoma County feed doesn’t seem to have incident radio traffic.

I’m hearing incident traffic on this feed: https://m.broadcastify.com/listen/feed/865

Anyone have other suggestions for scanners in the area?

Edit: Disregard, Nor Cal Major Incident is back up!

I don’t see any maps in the folder. Can you send a link?

How can I reach the 211 number from a different area? Im in the Central Valley and it wants to call Merced office.

Because of the assumptions and limitations in the FSPRO model, those maps are tightly controlled. Definitely a product that requires lots of explanation to avoid the high possibility of misperception.

Are those spot fires or back burns on Cobb 1 ?

It’s in a PSPS area now so I think the primary site lost backup power and it came back up on an alternate site. The coverage sounds a lot noisier now. I think they’re working on the backup power on the primary site.

What do you want to know? Feel free to ask me on Twitter, since this is mainly for what’s happening with the fire itself. https://twitter.com/Sarah_Stierch

Sort of new to this, but there is a guy on the Victor channel at the moment…(I’m listening via scanner radio and when he talks that’s the channel info that pops up…)

I’m not sure how to say this. He sounds so calm and reassuring. I listened to him last year working the skies over the Paradise fire, and his method of getting the information to the others is amazing.

I live in Sonoma County and am hosting multiple evacuated families at my home, and so I’m familiar ish with the area, (we have a ranch also just south of Calistoga)

The point of my post is, I have no idea who the heck he is, but knowing he’s up there advising and gives me such comfort and peace of mind that they are going to get a handle on this. I wish I had a way to tell him that he gives me (and my house guests) hope.

That would be the air tactics group supervisor. He runs command and control for all the aircraft. And those guys voice have the same effect on us ground pounders lol

That’s why the first responders, et al get paid the “big bucks” that they do /S (for a wee bit of sarcasm).
I’ve been a scanner head for five decades; my husband was in the fire service for 27 years. The professionalism of these guys/girls under the most dire circumstances imaginable never ceases to amaze me.
And thank you for taking in those in need.

If it’s the victor channel it could be two different aerial supervisors
The helicopter coordinator or HLCO is responsible for all the helicopters
The Aerial supervision module or ASM is the low level lead plane for the air tankers
The pilot leads the tankers And his back seater Coordinates with helicopters and talks to the ground
These two both work for the Air Tactical Group Supervisor or air attack over the fire
The air attack has overall control of the air space over a fire
Additionally with a multitude of aircraft over a large fire there usually two or more victor frequencies
Rotor victor or helicopter victor for tactical fire fighting helicopters
A briefing victor for aerial supervisors to hand off their responsibilities to the next incoming Air Attack, HLCO, or ASM so they don’t congest up the helicopter victor that is tactically being used to fight the fire
The tankers and lead plane pilots usually use a air tactics frequency that is an FM frequency
The victor frequency is an AM frequency
Hope that helps

Does anyone know where I can view the morning briefings at base? Live or recorded
Thanks

The east flank between Pine Mtn and Mt. St. Helena looks moderately active on the cams right now. This was the only section with any intense heat on last night’s IR.
