Evacuation of Fort Hunter Liggett Base Camp occurred at 2330 hrs.
Huge overnight run to the SE. The fire has crossed the Arroyo Seco/Indians Rd. in the Memorial Park (Indians) area and is threatening the Nacimiento-Fergussen Rd. and Ft. Hunter Liggett. May have grown to around 74,000 acres.
Firefighter at FHL says fire went west last night and is burning on FHL.
Confirmed by Branch V. Nacimiento USFS Station and barracks fully engulfed.
The next good place to attempt stopping southward progression may be the breaks that were employed on the Chimney Fire. It’s a good thing Liggett has such an extensive burn history, for when it comes down in to the lower country.
A contingency line was just built from Nac-Ferg down Prewitt Ridge to the ocean. Hopefully that can hold. The east will be a hard one.

Box just got a lot bigger. Fire is backing down into Mill Creek on Dix V with the Contingency down Prewitt Ridge to Pacific Valley being new holding line. Fire has burned over Nac. Ferg Rd on east side and is working in a southeasterly direction just east of Chalk Peak and Ponderosa Campground in the Negro Creek. Unknown how far fire advanced in Div S towards FHL but FF at FHL stated that there was fire on the base. FHL Spike camp has been relocated further east to Jolon Rd. Ventana Crew I attempted an aggressive firing operation last night around Memorial Campground and along Milpitas Rd. It has been confirmed that the Contingency Line from from San Antonio Creek and Cone Peak, down to DP 60 through Avila Ranch was overrun. Avila Ranch was evacuated sucessfully. Fire has burned over the Arroyo Seco Indians Road in the area between Escondido and Memorial and is burning up the western slopes of Junipero Serra.
Most up to date Ops map doesn’t show current firelines.
