CA-MEU-Mendocino Complex???

Lets look at the bigger picture when spots out number resources time to back off. It was borderline area ignition. Stay safe!

Agreed,

Seems the tactical awareness was lost within the situational awareness. The STEN or DIVS should have known better and made the call.
My other concern was the hand crew just standing there watching the spot fires increase around them and folks not moving with a purpose.

Be Safe and Pace, we are not half way through the season yet.

A bit earlier in the video, you could see/hear the crew working at the RV/barn - them standing around un the twotrack war the first stage of retreat  - watch Matthew Hendersons (onfirephoto) coverage on Facebook, he had a better point of view. Think, the focus was the structures in the treeline.

Has anybody posted the IAP for today?

And as a retired but long-time FOBS, this appeared to be a situation where things were beginning to evolve into a rapidly deteriorating condition, and I hope that folks aren’t just getting laissefaire about these fires… we’ve lost enough folks for one fire season. Keep your heads on a swivel, and keep observing the watch-outs and LACES.

Does this mean it will be zoned

Possibly. They may zone it FRA/SRA.

I think that would great if they did but based off recent fires (for example the Thomas and Ferguson) their seems to be resistance in doing that. We all are working together to put these fires out but there is truly a big difference in way CAL Fire and Feds run incidents and they don’t blend together. Sorry if this off topic.

Just speculating, plus the River is 100% in SRA, and the Ranch is majority (~80%) in FRA.

The logical place to zone it out is SR20 dividing north/south.

Or two state teams

Updated IR maps at http://www.firemaps.us/files/IR.html
Yesterday was about 15 degrees cooler in Chico. We had heavy ash fall at times, but it was the first day in about a month that my AC didn’t kick on.
It looks like the NE flank of the fire hung up yesterday

on the edge of the 2012 Mill Fire (Blue)- the white line on this map shows 24 hours of growth. IR data in the image is from last night.

Any update ? Cover ST just got booted from BTU to the Mendo Complex.

Listening to radio sounds like the lost it in the area of SPring valley rd, on the Ranch fire. Structures burning again. REquested 3 strike teams from base to fire and copters , they dont think they will be able to get air tankers in.

Is there another name for cutoff road? & there are so many roads that aren’t labeled! I’m not from the area just know the hubby is near that road. Thank you.

Could you be looking for Nice-Lucerne Cut-off Rd.? Runs North of Lakeport from Hwy 29 to the town of Nice. It’s a shortcut off the highway that runs along the Northwest shore and marshy area.

I found a Cutoff Road near Potter Valley on Google Earth.
That’s the area they’ve been prepping road, I believe.

Here is last night’s IR of the North edge of the Ranch Fire. It is still holding up at the 2012 Mill Fire scar, shown here in Blue. Steady growth to the West of there. The 2 white lines show 24 and 48hr growth.

River Fire is looking pretty cold except on the North end, where it looks like they’ve got a good firing show going on.
