In the last hour, there has been a noticeable shift in the smoke column further to the SW as the winds are starting to change.
Has it reached sage road?
No. Not really close even. I was up on Sage Rd all afternoon and the fire is hung up on a slope several miles to the east. With that said…40-60mph winds will change that very quickly. Even drove all the way out Minto way to the intersections of Red Mountain. Extremely quiet in that are all afternoon
That is right by 74 east of Grant?

That just got BIG! But as others have said lots of open line and predicted crazy wind.
This up coming weather event is going to be a real test. Fire, winds, rains.
40-60 MPH winds will be the big test. Coming soon… hope everyone stays safe.
Mapped at 27,319 acres, still 5% contained
I listened to the lastest briefing today. The main players made it perfectly clear the evac area was going to go big to the East and all residents have been warned. RSO is bringing in 400 deputies to provide free trips to the jail for looters or opportunist.
On a side note it was nice and cool here in the inland area of San Diego county. Just now felt the wind switch and now have blowing warm North East air on my neck …
Slopover in Division L. Redhawk x Minto. 40 acres and wind driven with a structure threat
this can’t be good. getting almost 50 mph gusts east of esco right now too.
As the sun heats the surface there will be mixing and the winds will begin to increase further. The moisture piling up against the tall mountains to the east will promote mountain wave potential.
Kay has started to turn to the west and high resolution models show a very sharp rain shadow and this does not fully take into account the downslope drying factor from the ENE undercutting precipitation. Continuing to monitor, hopefully we get rain.
