I-5 closed both directions at Oregon border to Yreka

#KlamathonFire (UPDATE 7:30 pm) Now 4,000+ ACRES in the communities of Hornbrook, California, Hilt, California. Fire is 0% contained. An Evacuation Order is in effect for all Hornbrook and Hilt. An evacuation shelter is open at the Jackson Street School. Large Animal shelter at Fairgrounds.

CHP CAD updates:
1830 - Fire near Bailey Hill Road offramp, possibly another 5 hours of I5 closure, winds expected for at least 4 more hours (should start to diminish after sunset)
1924 - Powerlines down across 5 at Bailey Hill Road
1942 - Abandoning post at Bailey Hill Road, overrun by fire
2009 - Oregon State Police helping with shutting down Old Siskiyou Highway, working on evacs in Hilt and on the Oregon side of the fire.

#Klamathon - Folks in the Mt. Ashland area are being alerted. 6000 acres and growing! The fire is moving fast!

#Klamathon (UPDATE) Fire is 8000+ acres and 5% contained with multiple structures threatened and damaged or destroyed. An Evacuation Order is in effect for Klamathon Rd from I-5 to ager and all Hornbrook City all the way to and including Hilt /Colestein Valley

From ONCC News and Notes 0620hrs: National Weather Service- Medford has issued a Red Flag Warning from noon today to 6 PM this evening for strong gusty wind and low RH for Central Siskiyou County, including Shasta Valley (Fire Weather Zone 281). Link

In addition the Red Flag Warning remains in effect from 2 PM this afternoon to 8 PM this evening for strong gusty wind and low RH for portions of Modoc County. Fire Weather Watch in effect from Saturday afternoon through Saturday evening for strong gusty wind and low RH. Link

18 crews, 52 engines, 5 dozers, 7 watertenders. Estimated 900 people evacuated.

Sounds like there was a wind shift overnight and the fire burned in multiple directions. I think it started too late in the day for a nirops flight to be scheduled.

per CHP CAD:
CHP and ODOT are now escorting traffic through on I5 in the last hour. All offramps hard closure between Yreka and OR border. The cameras on the oregon side show heavy smoke, not much airflow. 60% RH this morning. Cameras and WX on CA side are down.

CHP just announced that NB I-5 is open with no restrictions. They were pacing/escorting earlier.

CalFire IMT4 is assigned. Expect them to officially take over the fire at either 1800 tonight, or 0600 tomorrow.
