The dinkey creek section is taking off.
I just saw that fuel bed get some energy on the NW flank.
I am out of radio reception of the incident. Canât hear much at Meadow site. Surprises me.
Here is a link to last nightâs Lookout Livestream.
We provided a detailed update on the Garnet Fire, noting its progression and the geographic challenges to containment. We discussed the impact of recent rains and the fireâs activity near the Tea Kettle Experimental Forest, where a 3,000 acre planned carbon-focused forestry project just got nuked.
We also covered other fires in California, including the 6-5 Fire in Chinese Camp, the 2-7 Fire in Murphys, and the Blue Fire and Dillon Fires in the Klamath River country.
We take an aerial tour of an enormous pot-growing subdivision in Trinity County
The airshow has started with tankers 40 and 107 plus the scoopers.
I had issues on Saturday depending on what part of our property I was standing on.
Still moving a little.
XLE 1281A en route to Garnet this afternoon.
DNY STEN, DNY E64, MTB E55, SFS E822, BRK E12, LFD E33.
Scoopers again today [friday 5th] and quite a few helicopters.
Why would they need Alphas on this fire? Doesnât seem like Alpha country.
Definitely wonât fit in camp or the fuel line.
You got me. The resource request was for Type 1s or Type 2s with pump-and-roll ability, either OES or LG engines. They asked, we sent.
Appreesh the feedback.
My guesses?
Structure defense for Dinky Creek Store and attached buildings, including the camp at the Dinky Work Center?
Helms Power project near & above Wishon? Very wide paved roads for the infrastructure there.
Patrolling McKinley Grove Road?
Thereâs a lot of firing along McKinley Grove Road happening. https://the-lookout.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Screenshot-2025-09-05-at-8.00.56-PM-scaled.jpg
Yes, I did notice that seemed odd with the finger of fire I noticed over the last 2 operational periods grow. AA gave a excellent report to the two scoopers on their holding drops, âlooks very goodâ.
thereâs also cabins along the providence Rd south of dinkey, a forest service work center on the other side of the dam at Wishon. On the main roads its type 1 country all day.
Our Friday Lookout Livestream took a detailed look at the tactics being used to corral the fire, and also, had a long-form interview with staff from the Climate and Wildfire Institute - the think-tank that was trying to pull of the large burn in Teakettle Experimental Forest. The entire 3,000+ acre project burned this week. https://youtube.com/live/oSbfQiD9iYg
The fire looks less socked-in this morning on the Delilah camera this morning. Theyâve been capped pretty thoroughly past few days and have put a huge amount of fire on the ground at the north end of the fire over past 4 days. Will be interesting to see what happening if they get some sun and clear air on all that firing.
On the cams Looks like the area in the dinkey creek drainage is starting to get with it
Its keeping them busy. The scoopers changed there route into dinkey.
Still canât upload images.
Curious to see if a team gets punched for the SRA side if Team 1 from Salt will go or Team 2.
It would be IMT 2 since they are next up.
