USGS map is forecasting that the cell will dissipate a bit overnight with light precip farther north. Lightning detections at this time north-northwest of Manzanita Knob. (Radio traffic was from Siskiyou)
That’s not good
Not a bad idea to review your lightning cards. Don’t be the tallest thing in a clearing, don’t underestimate what 50,000 degree F strikes can do in light precip, spotter aircraft will have to be circumspect about approaching cells, if they can at all, encourage people to report any smokes they see, be prepared for gusty drafts, etc.
All 3 IC’s ( from jumper 49) reported in with 1/4 acre with heavy dead and down to mop up. Full containment and control expected within 24 to 48 hours for Cow, Obelisk and Line fires.
Helicopter 522 is committed to the SNF lightning for the morning.
Obelisk contained per wildcad
also they decided to suppress Fish instead of manage it because of the amount of resources being sent up north per Inyo.
cow contained per wildcad
Friend of mine went to court right today fishing. Ended up getting chased off the lake by thunderstorms. He also mentioned heavy rains with the storms… curious to see how many more new starts come and how much the rain helped with current starts.
been getting lightning alerts for North Fork and Oakhurst all afternoon
lots of smoke checks Sierra NF and YNP.
1 confirmed in YNP Deer IC
I was justing looking at the CAD Trish you beat me to it lol. Huntington lake cam is also focused in on a smoke. Which I believe to be the line fire
