That’s what scares me is the run it made this past weekend.
They brought in a tanker (N291EA) from Arizona to Porterville that’s up now getting ready to make its run.
Well it’s not surprising with the fuel loading and the amount of bug kill.
Per the briefing, upwards of 100 structures lost between Alpine Village, Cedar Slope and Sequoia Creast. Plus a Forest Service cabin in Grey Meadows, some structures in the Golden Trout pack string and Jordon lookout.
Point protection will be happening for a quite a while until resources get kicked loose elsewhere and with what we saw with the creek it could be 4-5 days of it and punching in line way off. Fuel conditions are ripe for long sustained runs.
My son in Camp Nelson with his strike team and did not mention this (about Camp Nelson) in his brief call home very early this morning so things have evidently changed rapidly on this fire… shows how fast they can change. Thanks for the update Mod.
I mistyped. Cedar Slope not Camp Nelson. Its been corrected.
Was at mountain home cc and amazing work by all on that side of the mountain with very little resourses. I tim my cap to all as everyone was doing double shifts to help protect structures and fight tjis fire. Long days ahead , finally getting a day to rest.
They’ve got the former Aero union tanker 23 working.
Interesting seeing the smoke going 2 completely different directions.

Terrain, do you think? I’m not familiar with that area.
I just heard AA talking with the troops about setting up firing around peppermint helibase.
I think this is from different wind patterns as you get higher into the atmosphere.
They discussed this earlier in the day about bringing fire down from the helibase to a solid rock cropping.
yeah there is one to the northwest of Peppermint. I know the rock outcropping their speaking of.
Yeah so do I and I wonder if they would of fired from the western divide in the first place would it have got to the size it is.
Sad to see…that is one of my favorite lookouts. But I see that our CMD Repeater is still standing! That’s Jordan in my avatar.
This camera may show something tonight.
Yeah is sad to see and there was awesome country to the NE down along clicks creek and back up to Maggie lakes.
Did the Giant Sequoias in Balch park/ Mt Home, make it thru the burn?
If Dennison Mtn blows up tonight, it surely will
