They’re supposedly getting 6 Shot crews in the next day or so. They’re going to insert and support with the Sherpa out of RDD with paracargo from Porterville ATB. This one will go till the snow flies.
pray for early snow… I agree
I live up here and we’re looking at 2 months yet at least for snow, but early rains would be great.
early rains would be good…no lightening thou, but a early fall snow might be nice also

Excellent. I see the Teams are using the same Topo base map. Its bogging down my PDF Pro viewer on SSD drive. Sorry for the tech discussion.
Per Inciweb 27,549 acres no mapping flight.
Quick rough perimeter on Google Earth using modis 42,560.
Looks like yesterday’s loom up was a 200 + acres spot on the eastern flank. The Plans Chief in a FB briefing last night said that the spot was in the McNally burn scar and was consuming what was in that scar and is why there was pyrocumulus development. Nothing unexpected in that activity which is good to see. The down side is they lost the dozer line in the southwest corner, which is why the evacuation orders were bumped up for Ponderosa. They hope to hold that corner at Freeman Creek. The Shotgun has no suppression activity on it and it is now @ 450 acres.
Edit at 1045 after this mornings briefing: Growth in Alpha and Bravo, SW corner, but still contained for now. 5300 acre expansion in Golf (eastern flank) within the McNally scar, with a changed fuel model consisting of grasses, dead and downed trees. They are expecting the growth to be dynamic today.
Good video from the Needles, S/W of the fire. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wYM4FL2iApA&feature=youtu.be&fbclid=IwAR3Oq_uqD6fqE5oTAusRPZkET_93RFzPk4Djkt1XEcOkyqg81B0TxB00_9E
There’s been three AA aircraft over the fire today.
N47TT focused on the south end and spot west of the Kern river while AA51 checked the north and northeast sides then rtb, N8PQ transitioned with N47TT to work the south side while N47TT switched to the north and east side then rtb.
