Okay thank you.
Herd FF2 calls are happening as well.
FAE calls started round 2 today
Is it actually round 2 or just select hiring for guys who didnāt get their B in time for the March academy ?
Heard round 2? But maybe that as well.
I wonder if all the people who got FFII offers are waiting to start until they fill all the open FAE spotsā¦
Itās mixed. Most perm 2ās started already and LTs are waiting because most of the perf offers started as LT while waiting for FFA slots. Depending on the unit at least
I got a perm 2 offer on the 17th of January and still havenāt got a start date
Congratulations. Nothing yet for me. And scored Rank 1ā¦
Sameā¦
Sorry I meant as a FFIIā¦I was responding to the other message
Same here.
Anyone else heard of fae offers
I spoke with a gal from the fae hotline this afternoon. Just going to share my conversation here. My main question was how do you find out where an indivdual stood on the list. Basically, she couldnāt answer the question because she compared it to trying to find out your interview results. (If there was an interview) She also told me that your exam rank doesnāt play a factor of where you are on the list since there are only three ranks, and everyone is reachable. The competitive portion of the process that organizes the list was based on allowed certs that was requested for the application packet. The packet is scored based on the certs the candidate possessed. Also according to her, the optional resume or experience doesnāt play a factor. What I failed to ask was how they would ātie-breakā the people who had all the same certs. I donāt know if she wouldāve told me if I did ask. Furthermore, the biggest hiring rounds usually take place in January and June/July. Most movement during those times due to retiring personnel and June/July for budget reasons (End of fiscal year). Lastly, it was hard for her to say how long this list will actually stay alive for. Just depends on the number of hires they do off this one.
But yeahā¦just wanted to share. One other thing mentioned to me (not from the hotline) is in order to keep it fair they could possibly ātie-breakā scores by throwing them into a lottery. Maybe you guys know more or heard different? Hope this helps.
The tie breaker question is the biggest question
āOptional resume or experience doesnāt play a factorā These two were a High Priority back in the days of getting the qualified employees for the department.
I was on many interview panels and a candidates resume and previous experience always scored higher. Cal Fire has become to PC with lower standards in hiring practices, leaving those two factors out!
I couldnāt agree with you more. Unfortunately, Cal Fire has lost most control of at least the FAE and FF2 hiring processes. State personnel board sets most of the rules, and they seem to change every year. And the more I think about it the more I believe that the use of a lottery system isnāt too far fetched. Its easy, they can cover their butts and say its āfairā, and the higher ups can be happy that vacancies are being filled in a timely matter. They would say reading 1300 resumes and scoring them individually is too time consuming and costly.
Anyone know what type of pant/s weāre supposed to show up to the academy with? I havenāt gotten my academy start date yet
Contact your new units training bureau. You should get a TR60 with all that info.
New pants are issued by the unit FLO, who will also issue you your bunker and wildland gear. Depending on what unit and where in the unit you may go (sched A or B) they may have multiple dispersion points. If going for the whole 14 weeks, including FFA. I highly advise 2 sets of turnouts. Just my $.02.
