The grass on the South slopes and along the I 5 corridor is cured in many places. Monday could bring some decent grass fires.

Forecast models and their ensembles are in really good agreement that a cut off flow will form off the coast of Southern California, and set up a blocking pattern next weekend. Surface high-pressure building into the great basin along with the ridge piling up and amplifying from the meridional flow will bring severe early season heat all the way to the coasts. The combination of light offshore flow and heat will lead to low RH values and likely significantly dry out heavier fuels.

As the cut off low ejects there is potential for it to phase with a stronger trough moving into the Great Basin and set up a moderate Diablo wind event. This is still too far out to say for certain because cut off lows do what they want.
