Good copy on all. Standing by for model(s) & SME’s to gain better resolution..
That student of Wx / Fire part of my brain was very impulsive this a.m. when i noticed that graphic.. ![]()
Will be interesting to see if these areas of interest in the Eastern Pacific are decoy/atmospheric primer storms for another storm during the first week of September. I tend to lean towards that scenario since all of the operational models keep these primary disturbances as no threat to land.

Good Friday morning from Lake Mohave in Bullhead City. Extremely humid and getting dark already at this time of the morning. 105 air temp with 110 heat index
Almost has a little mammatus look to it
Oh wow! That is as confusing as it is interesting to ponder for my padawan student of weather brain - it does drive home the point(s) that Wx is truly amazing/complex & the many ways our planet finds to disperse and regulate heat / cold is simply not so simple BUT it’s #fascinatingaf! ![]()
Tend to see that before major storms there’s a tropical wave or weaker storm(s) that eat up hostile atmospheric conditions and spread moisture to maximize the background environment, for whatever purpose that is trying to be achieved…
Really good chance of elevated convection late tonight with lightning. Most of the moisture is above 700 mb, and the dry lighting threat only gets worse as the day goes on tomorrow and the heat of the day makes the dry atmosphere a larger factor as the easterly wave moves north into Central California.

Fire wx outlook from the Storm Prediction Center.
Personally i’d like to see Thor/Zeus keep the thunderbolts to a minimum on this one. Fingers crossed!!
The HRRR definitely thinks that is possible, very late tonight.

Indeed, as well as a little activity in the Santa Rosa Mountains. No way (for me) to tell which, if any, are cloud-to-ground bolts.
Some good build up in the Coachella Valley this morning!
Borrego Springs/ South Anza area getting lightning!
Good Morning Folks, boring weather here up in the Motherlode for now. 82 at the house with RH 38 pretty humid for August. Winds are calm. If we get any lightning it will come from the south or spill over from the eastside. This doesn’t happen to often in August but in the pic you can see some of the peaks in Yosemite. Usually hazy or smoked over this time of year. 103 in Sonora yesterday.
Peaks are in the far background.
Info. Clouds seen while walking this morning. Just had first hard hitting thunder clap. Just had five minute shower.
82F with 49% RH and DP 58 degrees in Mariposa
