Do you have a link to that map?
I pay for a membership that only I can access. Here is a link to the CalTopo site. I highly recommend. It’s a great site. Especially if you know how to add layers. https://caltopo.com
Anyone have link to interactive evacuation map for this incident?
Just saw a good video of operations at the point. The guys look pretty relaxed and smoke is sucking in good with little crowning. Unfortunately they don’t turn the camera on the houses. You can find it on this page and make your own call. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1222853964433269
Stay safe buddy
The article dated 2017 is still further behind in the real world! Trees have been dying and left to rot for many many years! More than Just a drought problem … Thank you for sharing the article …
In 2016 I served on CAL-FIRE IMT 4 (DERUM). We were charged with creating a response framework for the problem with Tree Mortality. I had the honor of working on this project with some talented folks from all over the state. I remember taking a recon flight over the western Sierra’s and it was astonishing to see. That was 4 years ago I cant even imagine it now. One of the product we created was a response briefing guide and map for all the units affected by tree mortality. I logged in to check to see if these maps still existed in digital format. These are the digitals we sent to the printer. They are meant to be folded but they have some good info. Here is a link. Tree Mortality
Just sent the links to Team 1 C & G. Great work on that AJ…
If you were to overlay the fire perimeter on that map, what would you say the percentage of the incident is in the RED, I’m guessing it’s gotta be at least 75% in very high tree mortality.
Omg thank you! My husband being a 4 th or 5th generation timber faller from here would love to see those. Every day I swear he counts the trees as he drives by them. I’ll check it out too!
@SmokeyPack the map is georeferenced so next IR map I can do a screen shot for you for a comparison. Remember this is 2016 data so its only gotten worse.
Yes AJ good work thank you!
Oh I know ! At least the fires will help clear out the dead trees. I hate saying that with all the Evacs but it will help with the future growth .
Got your email, Thank you very much.
The intensity of this fire will be stand replacement in most of the area in the canyon where it ran so hard and hot. Replacement vegetation will need to be monitored as exotics and invasive species may take the opportunity to dominate.

DIV-B -Air show trying to help keep it out of North Fork, hitting it hard NE of town.
Working the N-S ridge just west of Whiskey Creek.
DIV-U -Fire coming up the draw toward Shaver Lake Heights pretty strong.
Requesting everyone in DIV U back up to Shaver Lake town.
HARD closure of 168 at “top of 4 lanes at Auberry road”
INCLUDING fire personnel, nobody goes up 168!
@10:45 thru 10:55
168 is going to get hit hard and the size of the runs this thing has been making I do not seeing them keeping it out of north fork or even holding the 168.
Continuing the discussion from CA-SNF-Creek:
I own three cabins in the Huckleberry tract near Cedar Crest. They are very special to me and my family. A recent post said the fire was headed east toward Cedar Crest. Please keep us posted. Thank you.
How close is the fire from Woodbridge rd in the community of ockenden.
